“To the One Who is The Most Beautiful”
...said the Lord of Love, Kama, as he presented flowers to the Great Goddess Lakshmi. "What flower is it?" the goddess asked, "This is Champaka, my Lady" - Kama replied.

If we are to contemplate our divine stories as dimensions of the spirit & paths to immortality (whether historically or mythologically) we find that in an act of pure love & devotion Mary Magdalene poured Spikenard (Pure Nard, Jatamansi) on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair...
Spikenard oil is distilled from the rhizomes of the Nardostachys jatamansi, a plant in the Valerian family. Ancient cultures used the oil, to anoint people of high honor, and in soothing balms and ointments. It promotes healthy skin at the cellular level and is a proven anti-fungal and antibacterial agent. It has been utilized to expedite wound healing and reduce inflammation. Its primary chemical components, valeranal, calarene, and coumarin, help prevent infection and relieve itchy, dry patches of skin.
The use of Jatamansi (Spikenard) oil has been valued for centuries, referenced in religious scriptures, and part of the Ayurvedic, Chinese and Tibetan medicinal traditions. Spikenard is considered a precious oil in perfumery and cosmetics and for its benefits for wellbeing of both mind and body.
This Golden Champak balm sings its song through your skin into your being, warming along the channels of your body... merging heavens and adjusting your vibrational tone into a state of deep joy, devotion and blissful radiance. This balm truly celebrates the splendour and honour of embodiment whilst taking great care of our skin, a most precious and living organ. I wanted to create a balm that entrains us to a devoted demonstration of pure & multidimensional love, a celebration of beauty and faith in natural abundance, rebirth & bodily rejuvenation, whilst being musical, buoyant and deeply medicinal. A song of summer, golden with joy & miracles.
It is often overlooked that our imaginations are forever projecting onto the etheric planes. What we imbue our skins with, absorb & breathe in has a way with us, and we with the cosmos… while my skin care is physically medicinal it is also created with the impulse to expand through the physical, astral and spiritual planes.
In Theravada Buddhism, Champaca is named as the vehicle of enlightenment for the seventeenth Buddha, Aththadassi.
Its pure, sweet fragrance and resplendent blossoms are often used to adorn temples and sacred spaces, making it a symbol of devotion and spiritual elevation.
Its flowers exude a divine fragrance that is exceedingly pleasing to the Gods… Thus it is often grown in temple gardens as well as near dwellings, so the sweet smelling flowers can bring joy to all who pass nearby. In Hinduism, the champaka flower is used as an offering to the deities and spirits, particularly sacred to Krishna, the God of Love and Romance.
In the contemporary vernacular it is fondly known as the Joy Perfume tree. Indeed, the most costly perfume in the world, a fragrance known as 'Joy', which was created for the famous French fashion house Jean Patou in 1930, contains the essence of these flowers. In India, the flowers are used for decoration and their alluring scent is employed as a natural aphrodisiac perfume.
The oil I am using is an Absolute oil, Organic & Pure from India. I do not use “fragrance oils” in my formulations. It is important to understand that many skincare formulations will list a fragrance oil in their ingredients and this is often where harmful ingredients are slipped in.
I have chosen the red Champaca absolute…this is still one of the finest ingredients that enters the composition of Oriental Attars and highly refined perfumes. This extraordinary Red Champaca absolute is reputed to impart a deep suave character and a lasting “sillage” or trailing presence to fragrances.
